On the bottle best before 08/16/2018.
This was poured into a glass mug.
The appearance was a sturdy dark brown close to black color with a sustaining eggshell cream colored sheet of a little foamy head. Lace slid with the sips nicely.
The aroma had some sweet chocolate nibs playing with some dark fruits and some dried out tree bark sweetness. Light crisp burnt edges with some toast.
The flavor was moderately sweet with a stiff malty dryness running through the chocolate and dark fruitiness. Light trickle of some sticky sweetness of the malts in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied, but sat just a touch under with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt on par. ABV felt nice and low as expected.
Overall, as an English porter, it works, a bit drier perhaps with a lengthy sort of dry and dark fruity finish. I think I could see myself coming back to this.
