Poured pint bottle into snifter. Dirty caramel brown with amber flecks. Minimal half finger head and no lacing. Thick malty scents of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, butter scotch, hints of vanilla and bourbon. Reminds me of a scotch ale. Flavor is sweet malts of caramel and brown sugar, more vanilla and bourbon up front. Very sweet bread and butter scotch give it some depth. The taste has a familiarity of scotch ale or old ale.Medium bodied with a thicker mouthfeel. Very rich and smooth with lower carbonation. This is a very nice ale. If you like scotch ales or old ales with a bit of bourbon give this a try. It will probably sweeten up a bit with some age.
