after loving the cherry wheat and blueberry wheat, i expected this to sort of be the same thing just with cranberries in it, but that is not the case, its a sour beer, not not just acidic from the fruit, but its actually a kettle sour, done with tangerine too, neat for holiday time, even if i liked the clean fruited wheats a little better overall. the sourness is not quite fully clean, not cheesy or anything but it does have some sweaty undertones as it warms, medium acidity exacerbated by the acidity of the cranberry and the tangerine, so this hits the palate as quite sour, especially for me not expecting it to be a sour at all. the wheaty base is nice, mostly neutralized by the fruit but the fluff keeps it from feeling thin. a pretty brick red color on this with a light haze and a contrasting short snow white head from the tap at the source (an impressive facility by the way). the tartness rises fast but kind of stays there before going too far, the ferment is pretty thorough and there really isnt a lot of sugar leftover in this. its a good mix of flavors too, the citrus addition is cool with the cranberry, both come through as honest and real to me too. subtle raspberry and cherry, red fruit punch notes in this, but it seems all from the cranberry. tasty overall, unexpected, but clever.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a fluffy white head. Smells of sweet wheat and cranberry. Tastes of tart cranberry with a hint of sweet wheat. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Cranberry and abundant tangerine rind were evident when I popped the top. Pouring a light cranberry-tinged amber in color and a pinkish off-white of an abundance of foam, this wheat ale is certainly picturesque. Huffing the glass, I'm reminded of Pop-Tarts, in a good way like I thought of them as a kid: sweet fruit and slightly burnt sugar or other carbs... and maybe tangerine is evident, but the citrus isn't as prominent once poured. Sourness definitely is first to hit the tongue, and there is a slight roundness before the modest astringency takes over as it goes down the throat. Cranberries can be slightly discerned, but the sour overwhelms any nuance. I'm not a fan of gose and sours, and this isn't really changing my mind. However, damning by faint praise, this is one of the better ones I've had.
