really lovely take on the style, strong as they go, but without strong exposed alcohol character, flavorful, nice dark wheat complexion, festive sort of yeast, and smooth and long but without being overly sweet, really enjoyed this one with my wife, and credit to our server here at the brewery who immediately replaced our half glass that we spilled with a full freshy, now whats pretty generous! just what we needed, more weizenbock! deep amber color on this, frothy headed and creamy looking, some legs to it but not thick or intimidating looking, and with great carbonation the whole way for what it is. the nose and taste hint at raisin and tanned leather, clove and cooked banana, bran and dark bread, molasses and maple, and an earthy nutty wheat, light hazelnut and almond as it warms, complex on the grain side without getting into the chocolate or the roasted range, seems long boiled and condensed but not sticky or too big or rich. lovely fruitiness in the center, a fig note, birch syrup and winter spice character too, neat yeast profile more expressive than many of these, and overall a really nice brew. i could see this killing it in a rum barrel as something fun and different, brandy too, but its very well made and flavorful as it is, and i think these guys are doing a great job across a very wide array of styles! loved this one.
