References say there's lactose in the mix, so this just might be another milkshake beer. Things aren't off to a good start, as the contents poured into a clear Imperial pint glass look just like lemonade, with a little carbonation and a very little head. There's a muddled hoppy smell, but it's not what is expected from an IPA. It's more like an over-starched beer that curtailed its hops. It really isn't an enticing aroma, it's actually unappealing. An adjunct American lager, just with its limited hops and malt, smells better. The taste isn't much better. It's much more sour than hoppy and there's no malt backbone. Let's consider that sourness is not the goal for IPAs, even Imperial IPAs or New England IPAs. A taste of alcohol stands out, acceptable at this level. This is truly unpleasant to consume. Other than a fairly well softened eight percent ABV, there's nothing to like about this beer. As mentioned, there's no malt backbone and that also means there's no decent body. The one note citrusy hops become annoyingly sour because of the lactose. No depth, no transitions, no body , no glass lacing and no reason to ever crack open a can of this again.
