Collaboration with Cerveja Musa
Maibock, lagered for 100 days (!) and an all-out homage to our traditional German cousins. Showcasing big, sweet malt character, with noble hops giving hits of spice and floral. It’s a smooth, nutty, malty, spicy beast. Goes well with long waits and music in your ears. Featuring Pedro, Head Brewer of Musa and musical whizz kid.

dubbed a 100 day maibock, meaning it was lagered for that long, and an absolutely fabulous beer, a world class example of the style even, done in collaboration with a brewery from portugal i had not heard of before. light rust color to it, mellow headed from the cask, a really rad way to serve a super mature beer like this, even though it seems like lagers rarely get that treatment. i love everything about it, the flavor and maturity of the yeast, that really drives this at least as much as the malt does, while the grain has a cool toasted but dry earthiness about it, and its complex right there, even without a whole lot of hops, any adjuncts or wood treatments, it needs none of that to stand out as unique and amazing, and thats mighty hard to do in this day and age, so lots of credit to these guys! i like it having some obvious minerals to it, a light fall garden vibe, almost like squash or something, that plant based sweetness, although its dry by the end. some copper, some roasted corn or something, toffee, honeyed biscuit, lots going on here and its all so well unified, and as nuanced as it is, you also can tell its a short ingredient list, just so expert overall. the long lagering has paid off here, and this is the best of the bock types i have had so far in 2019, a really exciting and delicious brew, worthy of any occasion! both breweries involved should be real proud of this...
