Look is classic for an extra stout, dark but not crazy, tan head , lots of sticky lace and good head retention.
Aroma is an amalgam of classic English notes, nuts, toffee, coffeee roast and cacao. Hints of yeast character thats very light but appreciable.
Taste is big bold and dark, more roasted notes akin to irish dry stout but well balanced with residual sweetness and the caramel and toffee notes from specialty malts stand well by themselves. Finish is dry and crisp and melds well with a hint of alcohol sweetness.
Overall a slightly advanced and beefed up foreign extra stout but better than most american attempts by far. Well done.

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at the brewery.
Appearance: extremely dark brown with a finger of creamy dark tan foam. Great.
Smell: caramelly and just a little roasty. Subtle, but good.
Taste: roasty, toasty, and quite bitter. There is a sweetness, but it's over-balanced with roasty bitterness.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a moderate carbonation and decent creaminess.
Overall: pretty good, but a little rough around the edges.
