Appearance: Pours a well-hazed, dimmed orange-yellow body with an off-white, frothy head.

Smell: Citrusy lemon-lime with lychee pulp atop today's conventional malt bill loaded up with raw, rustic grains and a hint of that rowdiness from an overabundance of hops chucked into a fermenter.

Taste: Sweetish, bready with a heap of those coarse, raw barley/wheat/oat flavors. Flash of green, floral hoppiness, then some citrusy elements and tropical notes. Relatively subdued bitterness. Little blip of alcohol. Rolls back into a thick breadiness and veneer of cooked honey as you move towards the cushiony, hop-filled finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-soft carbonation. Fluffy mouthfeel.

Overall: Let's be honest, for a moment, if we can. There are many iterations of these raw barley, raw oat, raw wheat beers with Citra (or its treasured life-partner Mosaic) on the market these days. Some are good, some are not. I do feel that as the style has stuck around the overall base line has risen, which is nice. This one lands somewhere onto the "good" pile.

I'm trying the 2.0 at the brewery. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving a nice ring lace. The scent had hints of of citrus peel. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. There was a tropical fruit presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.
