Hazy Double IPA
Once a year we brew this Northeast Double IPA for South’easter, a NE inspired beer and food event. Brewed with several types of oats and wheat. Hopped with Citra from start to finish. Smooth, soft and juicy.

Had Lost Claws at Torched Hop Brewpub, Atlanta, on draft into 12-oz., cylindrical logo tumbler.
Pours turbid orange juice gold, with huge, foamy, near-white head, with excellent retention, leaving thick overlapping rings of lace down the glass. Dry pilsner malt and big juicy berry aromas off pour, then melon, lots of lime, grapefruit, tart stone fruit, and wheat spice, with the berry aroma resurfacing as warms. On tasting, thick, oaty mouthfeel right off the bat, which carries through immediate sweet citrus and citrus rind bite, into huge sweet orange and melon, which then carry over a little wheat spice, and into a biting, big, lime and grapefruit finish.
An aggressively biting yet still creamy and fruity take on the NEIPA, that superbly hides the huge ABV.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight. It poured a hazy golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had citrus medley notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet malt base and bitter dank pineapple and mango presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.
