a brett fermented pale ale, hoppy as they go, and a tasty and distinctive beer overall. the brett is quite a bit more subtle than i was expecting it to be, tastes a little young, not quite all the way developed, but adds a light rustic fruity funk to this, some hints of peach and white wine to it, a musty earthy thing as well, but quite delicate overall, especially with such a robust hop profile on this, the hops really carry it far more than the yeast does. a little cloudiness in this otherwise bright pineapple colored brew, a low golden glow to it and a short lived white head. i like how light the malt base is, crackery and clean, sets up the brett and the hops pretty well, anything more robust here might overwhelm the subtle brett character, so nicely restrained on that. the hops are cool too, citrus first, grapefruity to me with a splashy tropical note as well, and then a high alpha spiciness as well, neat in a dry hop context, but pretty bold, pushing this almost into the ipa realm, and there is some bitterness on it too. i wish the brett was a little more bold in here to match the intensity level of the hops, but its a cool beer, i love the brett pale style, and appreciate this being unique. neat recipe, all the beer in here was pretty rad!
