Picked this up a while ago, finally getting around to it on this mild October night. Never heard of 3 Stars butt his collaboration between the and Interboro was one of most easygoing American Imperial Stouts that I've ever had. It was true to form but not terribly potent and had the alcohol in it hidden to a large extent. The end result was a beer full of sweetness and stickiness that could have easily substituted for a dessert!
This had a good pour to it as the beer was a dark brown with a relatively fluffy mocha head that held it's own. Not a lot of lacing was left behind as this was just a bit thinner than I would have liked. Lots of sugar, molasses, rum, vanilla, and bitter chocolate in the muted but varied nose as all of those were found in the taste as well. Sweet, sticky, and full, there was a lot in the taste but nothing in particular stood out as this never felt like an Imperial beer. The sweetness and underlying sweetness made this feel like a muted Milk Stout without the lactose, as the aftertaste was somewhat cloying and just a bit roasted.
Dark fruit and a hint of booze rounded things out as there was a moderate warming effect to this that kicked inonce I finished this off. Dated 11/1 of last year with "UNXXX THE WORLD" written above it, this was different than what I was accustomed to from Interboro but just needed a bit more dark malt, sweetness, and potency to stand out. As it was, this was an enjoyable Stout that was unoffensive in every aspect...

This a collaboration with 3 Stars Brewery, Washington, D.C. "Imperial Rye Stout"
Tall can, 11/1/17 stamped on the bottom.
Pours very dark and stout like, not black, but quite dark, mocha cap that is on the small side and quickly goes to a fine bubble film and leaves and moderate collar and just a hint of lacing left higher up on the glass.
The sniff is loaded with milk chocolate, rum, vanilla and dark malts...yum
More of the same on the palate, smooth and tasty Impy stout...more rum, vanilla, chocolate, and a hint of cafe au lait....great stuff...nicely crafted, with the 9% (!) nowhere to be found...likely will only get better in the can...go get some

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
