Collaboration with Mumford Brewing
Brewed with our homies from L.A. at Mumford Brewing, an Imperial version of our brew from earlier this year. Pours pale golden yellow, with this white head. Aromas of citrus, tropical pineapple, bright tangy fruit flavors with pleasant hop bitterness. Brewed with Dutch Pilsner, malted wheat & oats. Hopped with Galaxy, Citra, Mosaic & Motueka, and double dry hopped with Citra.

Picked this up earlier this year, finally getting around to it on this mild October night. I'll admit that I love Interboro and given that this had the "Mad Fat" moniker on the label, I was eager to give it a go since all of the other variants of this were easy to enjoy. That was the case with this beer as well as it was bright, full, and smooth while hiding the alcohol at the same time. The fact that this was collaboration with Mumford was just the icing on the cake!
Nice pour to this as the liquid was a dank goldenrod with plenty of fluffy, bubbly head to top it off. Lots of webbed lacing could be seen on my pint glass as I worked my way through this as the liquid had a nice, full consistency to it. Loads of stone fruit, melon, citrus pith, dank hops, orange cream, and earthy funk in the muted nose as the taste was full of all of those. Scallions, garlic, pineapple, and Pilsener Malt rounded things out as this beer had a wonderful, rounded taste to it that grew on me as it warmed up. Not too bready or cloying, the balance was here as a moderate juicy slickness tied everything in together and allowed for an aftertaste to emerge, on the level of the Broccoli from Other Half...
It's been a *very* long time since a brew had a recessed alcoholic presence on the level of this but I didn't taste or feel any booze in this, even after I finished it off. Dated 1/24 of this year with "DTLA VS. NYC" written below it, this may have trumped the collaborations between Other Half and Monkish when it came to the East Coast / West Coast brews. Wonderful stuff that had it all, and then some; without hitting me over the head with excessive hops. Nice job all around!

A: The beer is very hazy to cloudy yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of wispy bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of tropical fruits are present in the nose—pineapples seem to stand out in particular.
T: The taste has flavors of pineapples along with hints of mangos and faint bits of alcohol. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA isn't as "juicy" compared some of the other Imperial IPAs, but it does a remarkably good job at hiding just about all of its alcohol from the taste. It's also not as heavy on the palate as I would have expected for a strong beer.
