Pours black as coal tar (SRM 40+). A chestnut froth quickly transcends from one half to one quarter inch, then becomes a thick ring and a light fog. Slight lacing is drawn down the Pretentious Glass Company Aromatic snifter by thick viscosity that produces no legs.
Rich, dark roasted malt opens the aromatics with chocolate immediately joining. It is sweet, with some bourbon notes. Figs follow, then a combination of light tobacco and old leather. The alcohol fumes are quite evident, at times interfering with the nuances. The above noted progression occurs over extended warmth.
The flavors are similar to the aromas, again, starting with roasted malt, then proceeding to lightly charred chocolate brownies. This one really is all about the malt. It has a mild bittersweetness and a faint sourness. The finish is surprisingly mild, especially given the alcohol's impact.
It has a full, almost dense body. The texture is creamy, which is a nice counterpoint to the light, yet sharp, prickle of carbonation. The alcohol is very prominent and a good bit higher than expected.
This is a boozy sipping beer that goes well with reading. An intense cheese pairing with Comte produces no real interaction. This one would easily hold up to a robust cigar.

The version we opened came in a bottle and the label stated that it was aged in oak for 18 months and “fed Nutella.” Brewed with Evil Twin Brewing. A dark monster of a stout with notable heat from the 12% abv noted on the label.

Picked this up a while at Interboro, having it recently as I've been out of the loop for quite some time. Of course, this was b beast of a beer and not something that I'd drink this time of the year but I did let this go for a while as it was quite appropriate for the winter months!
Of course, the pour to this was pretty dark as it was just a few shades away from being fully black. Lots of mocha head topped this off with enough lively bubbles that quickly settled down. Surprisingly, not much lacing left behind as this wasn't too thin or thick. A good amount of roasted and milk chocolate to the nose as a bit of raspberry tartness and bourbon stickiness eventually kicked in. All of those were in the taste too, along with a bit of roasted malt and a good amount of booze; though the latter wasn't much of a detraction at all. A bit of syrup and brandy came through in the back as this had just the right amount of subtle sweetness to it.
Though this was strong, it was just short of ending my session by itself! Dated 2/7 on the bottom of the can with "GOIN GORILLAZZ" written under it, this was enjoyable without breaking any new ground or being noteworthy in any way. Another solid brew from Interboro that was worth my time!

Enjoyed on draft at the brewery. Very nice looking imperial stout, great foam head. A bit too strong for my liking, but opens up very nicely. Enjoy this over an hour or so to get all the complexities.
