Brewed with our friends Pipeworks Brewing to celebrate NYC Beer Week. This Double India Pale Ale pours pale orange with a thin white head. Aromas of guavas, oranges and green mangos, with bold orange cream-sicle flavors. Brewed with German pilsner malt, English oats plus lots of wheat and a touch of Vienna malt. Fermented with a house blend of English and American yeast. Hopped with Australian Galaxy, Styrian Wolf in the whirlpool and the dry hop, with a generous second dry hop with Comet grown in the Yakima valley.

Bought this back in February and since I was away for most of the summer, I ended up having this tonight. Of course, this was another enjoyable beer from Interboro that was also an enjoyable collaboration but the oat and malts used made this just a bit dry to be truly exceptional. As it was, there was enough to like here as the tropical fruit and full body were enough to proverbially chew on, while having a recessed alcoholic presence at the same time!
Lovely pour to this as the liquid was a candied apricot with enough fluffy head to complement it. Not much lacing was left behind as the consistency was just a bit thinner than I would have liked. Tons of candied sugar, apricot, dank tropical fruit, and oats in the nose as the taste was more malty, with the impression of wheat staying around once the other flavors faded away. Mild creamsicle sweetness, yeast, and earthy dry-hops rounded things out as there was a lot going on here, without anything feeling too bold or overpowering. A subtle dankness came in at the end as the orange cream was just enough to counter the effects of it...
For a beer with 8.00% ABV, this went down so easily and never warmed me up or left any alcohol on my breath. The range of flavors may have seemed a bit odd but in the end, everything worked together nicely and had me wanting more. Imperial IPA's don't get much softer than this as the date of 2/21 with "GETTING HIGH ON THE TRAIN" written above it on the bottom of the can seemed fitting. This was another winner from both breweries involved that was as playful as it's moniker indicated!

Nice NE style dipa. Quite balanced it is a lot on the orchard fruits, the tropical notes and some citrus. The mouthfeel is juicy. The whole thing is quite drinkable

Hazy yellow color with off-white head. Aroma has fruit ripe melon notes but also some dank hops. Taste is sweet and fruity at first with forest berry notes, overripe quince and just a light astringent bitterness on the finish. Medium body and carbonation.

L - poured oddly quiet. Strange observation, I know. Wasn't expecting much head, but it fluffed up a bit and promptly fell. Has an appealing orange color, like apricot jam.
S - fresh orange juice and grapefruit rind. Papaya. Penetrating aroma. A bit bready.
T - sweet and sugary up front. Lightly toasted orange peel, and a syrupy marshmallow smores-y type sweetness without the sugary feel. Gotta be the pilsner malt. Apricot and berries. Maybe some peanut butter. The flavor opens up and starts to evaporate as the dry bitterness rushes in on the finish.
F - light and buoyant. Not fluffy, but way too light on its feet for 8%. Almost feels like soft peach fuzz.
O - this is a unique beer and not what I was expecting. The way it's sweet without feeling sweet, the toasty flavor that goes from fruit to grains to nuts, the refreshing yet satisfying oily hops... good stuff!

Enjoyed on tap from brewery on release date and from a can shortly after. Heavy pour into Craft Master. Great thick foam build up and retention, nicely blended orange haze. Wet grass, citrus, marshmallows on the nose. Malt and sugar upfront balanced by the citrus and tropical fruit, mostly guava and orange. Feels like biting into a ripe guava, very sweet at first then the tang of acidity bites. This is an incredible beer, reminds me of MBC Dinner. Not sure what everybody is thinking, but this is a serious brew.
