500 ml bottle into a tulip glass. 2018 edition, had 11/27/18.
Pours a pinkish amber, cloudy, with a one inch foamy head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of raspberries, some yeast, light malt, light cherries and grapes, a hint of tartness. The flavor is raspberries, malt, some cherries, a little funk, lightly tart and sour. Smooth, refreshing, a decent lighter body that seems to get thinner as you work through the bottle, appropriately carbonated.
It’s pretty much all raspberries, which is okay since it’s executed well, but there’s just not much depth to this overall.

Picked this up at Interboro a few weeks back, as this was the first big bottle that I ever bought there. Wasn't sure what to expect from this and yes, this was on par with their other offerings that I've had from them. It was't edgy or totally wild but it was solidly crafted and easy to quaff, given how much alcohol was in this...
This had a good pour as the liquid was a dark garnet with some light seeping in around the edges. Not a lot of head topped this off and what was there was quite offsetting in hue and short-lasting as it quickly settled down. Very little lacing remained as I sipped my way through this but thankfully, the taste was the same from start to finish. Not as tart as other examples that I've had, this had raspberry in it with lots of red wine and some wood, yeast, and barrel-aging underneath that. Not terribly tart or light, this had a nice body to it as it was well-balanced, fairly slick and heavy on the tongue. A bit of burning oak and underlying funk held my attention to the end as the light amount of carbonation made me feel like I was drinking an aged wine with strong fruit notes to it...
Not a lot of booze to this beer but my palate would have led me to believe otherwise. A bit of sediment was at the bottom of the liquid as this looked and felt much older than it was in actuality. While not bad, this wasn't great and was in line with what I expected. More yeast or heft would have taken this up a notch but as it was, this was a fine brew that had equal parts fruit and body in the end, resulting in a concoction that was unoffensive as this style could get.

a rad version of this red wine fermented and aged wild brew, done with a heap of raspberries. it was fun to taste this next to the original unfruited version, as well as the apricot edition. the fruit really makes it for me, the tang of the raspberries here really bringing out a bit more of the sourness from the base beer, and the juicy red fruit goes so well with the obvious red wine characteristics of the base beer, its a perfect match really, and i think this was my favorite version of this all up, but all three are so distinct from each other. the raspberry darkens up the color from amber to mahogany, and there seems to be a little less of a head on this one, a greater density, but the same sparkling relative clarity. aroma and flavor are both very tangy from the fruit, this is sharper than the original, but still balanced by the fuller grain profile, which i now appreciate more than i did in the original. bretty funk is still there, set against the sweetness of the berries, the cherry note from the wine, and the strong vanilla waft from all the oak, its complex and interesting and delicious. with all the fruit though, it does take some of the focus off of the fermentation profile, which overall seems a little more subtle and perhaps less mature here, but i think its a fine trade off. this is unique stuff, very enjoyable, and even wintery feeling with the fuller body and the warming oak.
