I haven't done a formal review in a while, but I thought this one was a good opportunity. As usual, only whole numbers.
A - poured like Coca Cola with the dark head fizzling away rather quickly. Not particularly noteworthy.
UNTIL! I was watching S3E2 of Blindspot, so I wasn't really paying close attention, but all of a sudden the beer took on this odd coating, like the rising bubbles just sort of got stuck there at the top as it took on a chocolatey glaze. I have never seen that before. It was neither good nor bad, it was just really interesting.
S - I actually didn't get too much. If I really took a strong whiff and pondered for a while, I did get some light chocolate and a bit of heat.
T - I'll admit I DON'T really get the hype behind this style. Mexican Cake is fine, Huna - decent. Bomb! is outstanding, but only because the pepper heat is very light and is a complementary flavor to the coffee and the rest. On this one I barely tasted the pepper until I got a massive dose in the after-taste. And man, did it linger. I don't know how they pulled it off, but kudos to Interboro for that interesting effect.
F - Very pleasantly thick and chewy.
O - A major surprise to have enjoyed this one so much. Very well played all around.

Served in a red wine glass form the can.
Appearance; Comes off a semi thick brown tinted black color with a dark tan head. The though drops super quickly simialr to that of an American porter. Head drops very quickly after one sip...my only complaint i wish the brew had a touch body.
Smell: I will be honest, it smells like nothing or if anything hops. Super bland an un appetizing.
Taste: Totally different from the scent, and honestly hard it believe it is the same beer. Spicy chocolate with a hint of vanilla. If you let it warm up it has a sour malt feel but the spiciness offsets the beer.
Mouth: Sticky beer but lacks body, it is actually thin for any stout, carbonation normal...body could be a little more. How sticky it is, is why i didn't think it should be scored lower.
Overall: Good beer, it is definitely an acquired taste. Personally I like it, wouldn't change it, Honestly would be perfect for a beer tasting. Salud!
