A thanks to the amazing woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a very cloudy orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of tropical fruits. Taste is juicy, pineapple, grapefruit, moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

If you are CANming late to today's show, The CANQuest (tm) would like to provide the following recap of recent events as a PSA. In CAN effort to close out Untappd's "Better Together" badge, The CANQuest (tm) assembled all of the collaboration beers (& otherwise) from Barrier BC in his extensive backlog & systematically eradicated them through perseverance, reviews & ratings, CANminating last night. The next brewery in line for this treatment is Interboro, also noted for CANned CANlaboration beers and also with a large backlog presence. This beer creates a bridge since it is from Interbro in CANlaboration with … Barrier! 8=O
From the CAN: "Double IPA"; "Interboro x Barrier"; "Brewed with our friends from Barrier"; "Come Visit Us and Our Tasting Room".
I was CANxious to get this one started, but I hit a snag in the form of NO existing pic! 8=( I got Mods involved to (ahem!) kinda push it through since a CANQuest (tm) tenet is to NOT Crack! open a CAN until an approved pic is in place. My thanks for the help, gents.
This had to be one of the most CANticipated Crack! & Glugs in (at least) recent memory! Still, I was not one to deviate from the plan, no matter how much of a deviant I may be. Following said Crack!, I CANtinued with a slow, steady C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. The resulting two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head made me misty as I watched them slowly recede, leaving wonderful lacing in their wake. Color was a slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7), and I am happy to chalk this up to chill haze as my reefer is kept much cooler than room temperature, which is how I generally drink my beers. Nose was revelatory, causing me to revel in its grapefruit citrusiness glory! I had grapefruit juice earlier this shut-in AM, so this dovetailed nicely. I also got eucalyptus & pine as well as light caramel, but all of that was seCANdary. Mouthfeel was medium, on the light side for the style. A minor quibble. The taste was less grapefruit than pineapple & when CANbined with the caramel malt, it was like drinking a liquefied pineapple upside-down cake with a little bit of a dank special ingredient thrown in for good measure.
I took HomeEc in high school & I really got into baking, both in the classroom & up on the nearby railroad tracks at lunch. I beCAN making "special" desserts at home in the afternoons following school since both of my 'rents worked. Baked goods were my specialty & soon, I was in high demand. Ppl would provide me with the ingredients & I would bring in individually-wrapped snax the next day! I never really dug something as sweet as pineapple upside-down cake, but I was willing to make and try anything once. But, as usual, I digress.
Mmm, this was a good beer to kick off yet CANother day of social distancing, self-quarantine & isolation in this current CANdemic. It beautifully balanced bitter (the grapefruit snuck back in) & sweet, setting the stage for a glorious day ahead. The bittersweet of the fruits stood in juxtaposition to the sweetness of the malt(s) while the mintiness of the whichever hops gave it a pleasant coolness. Finish was cool & dry as a result, but not overly bitter, bordering on bittersweet. Mmm. YMMV.
