Bottle from Earl’s Beer and Cheese on the UES, NYC during 2020 COVID pause. Pours an opaque reddish brown with a tan tinged head, smell is warm red wine, fig and dark grape preserves, hints of dark malt sweetness, taste is sour red wine, hints of grape and black currant jam, tannic finish, this is light with subtle carbonation. A fruity and sour red wine treat.

Along with the Chisel Tip Red and Blue, I picked this up at Interboro a few weeks back. Loved the label art and the design of this beer and the taste was just as good as the packaging would have led me to believe! Normally, Interboro excels at IPA's at Stouts but these are welcome change from their usual fare while being on par with what I'm accustomed to from them!
Lovely pour from this as the liquid had a very deep, plum hue with just a bit of light seeping in around the edges. A thin layer of tan bubbles topped this off as they settled quickly and unevenly. Lots of dark fruit, wine, barrel, and funk in the nose as this drew me in from the first sniff. Tons of wine in the taste as the felt quite rich and varied on the palate. Some raspberry tartness and acetate came through, especially as this fully warmed up. Dry and lively, this had enough carbonation to it as this wasn't quite like any beer that I've ever had...
This had a bit more booze to it than the other bottles that were released at the same time but only a hint of bourbon spice and stickiness indicated this beer's potency. Not terribly strong in any aspect, this was a winner that showed what a Wild Ale could be with some creativity and deviation from the norm. Loved this beer from start to finish and how nuanced it was!
