Picked this up, along with the other bottled releases from Interboro, about a month or so ago. The other iterations of the Chisel Tip series were quite smashing and this was as well, although it was a bit too juicy and tart to be rated any higher. If you like Sour Ales, blueberry, and funk, then this would certainly be up your alley!
Lovely look to this beer as I poured it out, as it seemed like blueberry juice come to life. The frothy head was like blueberry ice cream or a smoothie come to life as it was frothy and blue in hue with plenty of life to it. The only unpleasant aspect of this beer was the lack of bubbles or lacing left on the side of my pint glass once I started to sip this. Loads of blueberry, tartness, funk, and wood on the nose as the taste contained all of these to a larger extent. A lovely feel of juice, yeast, and sourness kissed my palate as the aroma was enhanced once I took a sip of this. Fresh, lively, and slick, this was a wonderful beer that had a bit of sediment on the bottom of the liquid as that served as a reminder of this brew's roots. Not a lot of tartness here but what I could detect served as a sweet and sour reminder of what this brew was capable of...
There wasn't a ton of alcohol here and the woodiness and earthiness present was more than enough to overcome any heft that this brew had. I'm a blue person in terms of what I wear, feel, and enjoy and a beer such as this only served as a reminder of how much that hue has predominated over my life. If you love Wild Ales, fruit beers, or brews with an underlying complexity, then get your hands on this. Interboro moved up a few notches in my book once I had their Chisel Tip offerings!
