Last year we brewed this with our friends Dugges Bryggeri when they were in NYC, and we loved it. This year we wanted to brew it again, but we had to go quadruple plus, so we called our friends Devoción Coffee. Cardamom is a real Swedish West Coast bun-pastry spice. Citrusy, minty, spicy, and herbal all at the same time. The cardamom addition balances perfectly with the viscosity and malty sweetness of the base beer. Devoción's Toro blend of 100% Colombian sourced beans adds the perfect notes of roast and acid for this pastry Baltic Porter. Fermented old on lager yeast, cold conditioned for over eight weeks.

On tap at Strange Brew in Allentown.
A - Dark brown pour with no lacing.
S - Chocolate, mint, spice, and light cinnamon aroma.
T - Cardamom shows up on the palate (not so much on the nose), chocolate roast, mint, spice, and some light booziness that finishes on the sweeter side All the flavors mash together in a bit of a mess.
M - Thick, viscous, silky, and sticky sugary on the lips.
O - The ABV is nicely hidden but a little messy on the palate - too much going on.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
