Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to sparse patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bakers chocolate, a touch of vanilla and coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light to moderate char, bakers chocolate, drip coffee and some malted milk. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A nice, quite roasty and dry imperial stout. There are hints of oatmeal in the body, but no oatmeal flavors. Good chocolate and some pleasant coffee character. A pleasant, classic, well toasted stout after a series of the currently more popular sweeter stouts. Worthy.
