West Coast Style India Pale Ale

Zipping off memory lane into the fast lane this DIPA is a candy apple red DeLorean doin’ 88 mph. Pours bright amber in color, with thick off-white foam. Aromas of pine, berry and candied pink grapefruit, with classic hoppy bitterness and dank, fruity flavors. Brewed with Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malt, with a touch of C-60 for that rad, turbo-blasted tint. Fermented with Chico (‘cause CA). Hopped with Simcoe and Mosaic and double-dosed with Mosaic Cryo Lupulin. Hold on McFly.

Nice dark gold color, and it's pretty clear. Tons of fine head, to the point I'd call it a fizz-out. It leaves good lacing, though.

Smell is honey, floral, fresh cilantro, and barley malt. Kind of a glancing blow.

A lot more taste, but the grain dominates, unfortunately with not a lot of range. Moderate bitterness. Slight lemon peel.

Aftertaste is mostly the bitterness. Carbonation is fine and soft. Alcohol is slightly detectable.

L: Pours a hazy medium copper with a dense off white head. As y the he head slowly recedes it leaves significant lacing on the glass.

S: Grapefruit, caramel malt

T: Taste follows the nose except pleasantly stronger— grapefruit pith, pine resin hops dominate. This is a classic double WCIPA.

F: Medium bodied with a lingering dry and bitter finish

O: Excellent WCIPA

A: Pours a crystal clear medium copper in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate amber + dark golden yellow + burnt orange + honey + caramel colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense creamy sudsy foamy beige head that slowly reduces to a medium sized patch of medium thick film covering approximately 35% of the surface of the beer surrounded by a large patch of slightly mottled very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of citrus/grapefruit + citrus/grapefruit zest + citrus/grapefruit pith + dank resinous pine hops over the top of moderate aromas of toasted + caramel + bready malts with a moderate amount of caramel sweetness.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of toasted + caramel + bready malts with a moderate amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of citrus/grapefruit + citrus/grapefruit zest + citrus/grapefruit pith + dank resinous pine hops which impart a slightly stronger than moderate amount of aggressive lingering bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp upfront with a light amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a refreshingly crisp + slightly dry mouthfeel. Enjoyable with classic West Coast DIPA hop flavors and aromas along with a solid malt backbone. Very enjoyable aggressive bitterness.

A: The beer is slightly hazy orange amber in color and has a high amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high dense off white head that has excellent retention properties and hardly died down.
S: Moderate aromas of pine resin hops are present in the nose along with strong notes of caramel malts and hints of grapefruit hops.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors of grapefruit hops are a little stronger and there is also a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a classic West Coast IPA that has a nice dose of piney and grapefruity hops, bittnerness, and a malt backbone.
