Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a quarter finger, light khaki head that slowly dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, toasted coconut, vanilla and mild cocoa. Flavor is semi-sweet dark toasted malt, vanilla, toasted coconut and light milk chocolate. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A solid imperial stout that has a milk stout profile, probably due to the vanilla. Vanilla dominates, but with solid coconut character and good malt support. This is one of the more vanilla forward stouts I've had and I'm impressed that it works quite nicely; a credit to the base stout malt that carries it well. A little sweet, but not pastry stout level, which really works for me. Not too complex, but solid and flavorful, a fine 6th anniversary offering.
