Backyard Barn Winery and Microbrewery "Big Ass Vanilla Creme Brulee"
$6/snifter at the brewery on 23 December 2018
Notes: Hazy chestnut brown with orange and ruby highlights beneath a head of creamy off-white foam. Very good head retention and lacing. The aroma is wort-like, malty with spent hops that are leafy. The flavor is sweet and cake-like with vanilla and caramel. It's rich and sweet but not so sweet that it becomes sticky or cloying - as a dessert beer it works just fine. There are some leafy hops in the background that it probably doesn't need, but they don't hurt either. It's only moderately bitter but still fairly dry in the finish. Medium bodied with a dextrinous edge and creamy smooth.
