SAmpling a cellar temp bottle poured into a snifter. I picked this up at a brewery release. The beer pours a dark chocolate color with creamy tan head of 2 cm foaming up. the foam slowly drops to a sturdy surface layer. This layer remains throughout the sampling of the beer. A sweet milk chocolate aroma wafts out of my glass with a bit of vanilla mixes in as well with a little bit of coconut. Fairly sweet nose on this beer.
The first sip reveals a smooth silky texture with very fine and gentle carbonation. very soothing physical traits on this brew.
Flavor is lots of malt with dark chocolate and some brown sugar mixing with a bit of toffee and some sweet coconut notes on the finish. I dont find any hops on the flavor profile. The 8% is well hidden as well n this very drinkable brew.
The sweetness does get to be a little much towards the end of the bottle and I would recommend splitting with a friend. Having one on draft would be a great nightcap. Nice desert stout.
