Grumpy's Bar - Northeast

Great tiny one room dive bar that was called Zurbey's (owned by Andy Z) when I moved to MPLS in 1991. The bar and original flock wallpaper behind it are still intact today and really add to the vibe, history and charm of this Northeast gem. There are still a few small dive bars up & down 4th St NE including Jimmy's, Mayslack's and The Knight Cap. Grumpy's had a larger location in downtown MPLS that closed a few yrs ago. The owners of Grumpy's NE also own Palmer's Bar on the West Bank of MPLS, also a groovy dive bar/juke joint. These places have survived and stood the test of time, held back the excavator and made it through epic eras in American history including the rip roaring days of Skid Row in the Twin Cities. Grumpy's is a legend and is advertised about re pub crawls, pedal pubs and they also have a bit of live music. It's a time machine and a great place to have a few drinks, some snacks and enjoy time with friends. Full bar, approx 15 beers on tap, a large selection of tall boys, very decent cider selection, merch, a large emphasis on their ethics code, you can reserve the room for private events, corporate or what not, weddings, parties, meetings. Line bar w stools, a hand full of booths, some tall tables. Cool lighting, well managed, fun staff. Charming. Highly recommended.
