Had a good time going last month. Nice place but not without criticisms. The music is not my thing - so what if it is Texas? I'm a musician, and I know the customer base likely does not want to hear just country around here, especially the younger crowd. Also, the older gentleman working the taps made his support for Donald Trump more than clear enough along with his disdain of Democrats. Not very professional and that was pretty annoying. Otherwise a friendly and helpful dude. Plenty of other cities like Houston and Galveston have taprooms that know better as far as music, etc.
Small little place with lots of colors on the wall. Not much parking but luckily it wasn't busy, just one or two other cars. A mini stage for live music on one of the bar, and the other end is a door to the brewery. Nice smooth tables and bar, my favorite part was USB ports and outlets on the patron-side of the bar, allowing you to conviently plug up while you drink.
Sports on the TV, lots of different bottles on the wall along with their merchandise. 20-something taps with larger bottles and growlers for sale. It was cool to see bags of barley/grain/malts actually sitting within the tap room right outside the door to the brewery. Workers would sometimes walk out and grab a bag and head back. Bathrooms were decked out with cool bottles like Pliny the Elder and other critically acclaimed beers.
Flight was a little expensive, 4 small pours for $10 vs. the normal 5 pours at many other breweries. The growlers and bottles were also expensive. Their beers were good, nothing extremely special but fresh, homemade beer always tastes best on tap. I was surprised at the amount of good options from other breweries - they had Sierra Nevada specialties, Prairie, Brash, and more. Not enough bars around here have any decent beers on tap. It was nice to get beers that aren't available for sale around here as we are 2 hours away from the nearest hub, Houston.
They have some decent events here, but the live music is almost solely country. I'd recommend diversity with the acts, none of their music events have convinced me to show up. I luckily came on a normal day. No food available except for on certain days when food trucks show up, but they are nice enough to welcome outside food inside.
Bartender was relatively attentive and patient. They should do more brew tours - it would be convenient with the door to the brewery being right there next to the bathrooms. Although there is room for improvement, this is one of the only breweries in the area and certainly the only developed one with a taproom. Gotta hand it to them for attempting to fill the void of brewing and beer businesses.
