The Helles style was developed in Munich in the late 19th century, making it one of the younger traditional styles from that part of the world. It was a response to the popularity of beers coming out of bohemia, most notably Czech Pils, and it utilized new malting techniques that helped it get that super-clean and bready flavor that makes them so distinctly delicious. It is like taking a traditional style and remixing it to satisfy a new taste, hence our name, MK II. MK II is super clean, super crisp, with a bready aroma and a slightly heavier mouthfeel than Loggerbier. Look for traditional spicy notes from noble hops and a dry, refreshing finish.

Pour is a straw
Nose is grassy noble hops layered over a bready malt.
Taste presents in reverse of the nose. Bready, cracker malt followed by subtle grassy noble hops. Dry finish. easy to drink. great beer.

A: Pours a brilliantly clear golden/yellow color. A two finger white head forms and recedes after a minute with lace left behind.
S: A simple nose of toasted/baked bread. Malts and light grassy hops. Not much more to add, just really inviting.
T: That toasted bread, cracker like malt character is up front. Some sweetness mid palate, but drys out with a light and subtle grassy bitterness.
M/O: A light body with beautifully fine carbonation. Just enough spritzy carbonation, that becomes ultra smooth. This is wonderfully clean and finishes dry. Really easy to drink and come back to. Downed in big gulps.
Less is definitely more here. A really well made Helles, that I can come back to again and again. This ranks up their with some of the better Houston lagers.
