Bringing beer to the breakfast table, Calusa gives their Brown Ale a little jolt of java and a sprinkle of cinnamon to give this beer a place right beside of the pancakes.
Pouring with a medium-dark brown color and showing light garnet highlights, Dissonance Breakfast Brown builds a creamy light tan froth. Its robust scent leads with strong coffee overtones but also with toast, nuttiness, cocoa and a granola-like scent. A nearly robust sweetness greets the tongue with caramel, toffee, light honey and again, a granola overall taste.
As the ale crosses over the middle palate, its sweetness lessens considerably while the more savory toasted character only rises. Bold roast coffee brings its earthy, lightly smoky campfire woodsiness with the cinnamon adding a peppery twinge. With hints of cocoa, pecan and heavy toast playing a close second fiddle to the coffee, the beer trends woodsy, balancing with broad hop bitterness and a gently simmering spice.
Medium full and finishing toasty-dry, the beer's bold flavors have impressions of a larger bodied beer but its toasted dryness leaves an arid, spicy and daringly refreshing mouthfeel with hints of mint, cinnamon and coffee playing out in a medium long linger.

Muddy brown color, beige ring of head.
Big aromas of cinnamon, oak, chocolate, and cappuccino.
Cinnamon and brown malts come forward and the back end slaps you with light coffee and more brown malts. Light brown sugar, faint dirty copper penny.
Feel is a tad thin but nicely carbonated.
Overall a tasty adventure.

On-tap at Calusa Brewing, Sarasota, FL
A: The beer is brownish red in color. It poured with just a tin ring of white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to aromas of cinnamon and coffee are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, having stronger flavors of cinnamons n and coffee.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little smooth on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is definitely a nice breakfast beer—I could see pairing this with some French toast.

Palate Contaminants: other beer
The color is a very dark brown, with a little translucence around the edges. Some light tan head the goes away quickly.
Smell is Cinnamon Toast Crunch and fresh coffee. I'm not a [late] a.m. consumer, but if I were...
Taste is much the same as the nose. The cinnamon maybe is stronger. There's also a lactic element that shows up. The sweetness is a bit transient; it shows up at the start, but doesn't have much endurance. Minimal bitterness. Pretty good, overall, but it leaves a little room for improvement, especially on intensity.
A swish brings out some carbonation, but it's not prickly. Aftertaste lines up with the taste almost perfectly. Medium weight, and the alcohol is very well hidden.

At Oak and Stone tap. Tastes just like the name. If Starbucks made beer, it would taste like this. Just a tad too sweet, but I like it.
