Taking hazy to the tangy side, the bold use of Motueaka and Mosaic hops promise to shock the senses with senses with curiosity and a tease of tartness.
Calusa brightens such a session with Happy Colors; a bright and matte lemon stained beer with a stark white froth reels in the nose with a burst of lemon and lime. A dank and herbal scent continues to entice the senses while a mild mannered sweetness of pastry crust, honeysuckle and meringue suggest a key lime dessert.
But the true nature of hops abound on the middle palate as its herbal scent trends fruity with lime, lemon, white grape, white grapefruit, gooseberry and passionfruit. Trending on the lighter side of fruit, the beer quickly transposes into a strong herbal bitterness that's redolent of green tea, sassafras, fresh grassiness in an almost pesto bitterness.
Medium bodied and somewhat lightened in slightly acidic nature, the beer finishes clean, smooth and still piquant. Peppery arugula-like bite extends into a lemon pepper, lemongrass character with subtle hints of dark berry and black tea trailing in a medium long aftertaste.

Cloudy creamy deep gold with big fluffy rocky white head; excellent cap retention; heavy ring, medium heavy lacing. Nose is grapefruit mango dank earthy hops. Taste is sweet fruit punch - grapefruit lemon lime mango guava. Full pillowy body; juicy creamy feel; some hop burn on tongue; no warmth from 8.5%. Overall, this beer tics all the right style boxes and I’ve tried to score it accordingly; however, I don’t like it - the overripe tropical fruit sweetness verges on cloying; and it has an unpleasant astringent hop linger; I could not finish this brash, harsh beer; not for me...
