Having this beer on tap at the brewery. This beer draws a dark, mainly clear copper color with a very nice white head that’s a very solid 1/2 inch thick when drawn and served. Head eventually settles to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass along with a nice film layer of surface foam accompanied by some excellent lacing. Aromas of some lightly toasted, bready malts with a bit of caramel along with a nice hint of rye. Spicy, just as a rye would suggest it should be on the nose. The taste is very similar, with some slightly toasted, bready, caramel malt sweetness that’s followed by a good amount of rye spice and also a bit of zesty, earthy hop bitterness. A very good balance of all the different flavors makes this a very nice sipper of a beer indeed! Has a somewhat crisp, also smooth, medium bodied mouth feel with moderate carbonation. This beer has a clean finish and all of the flavors linger very nicely in the aftertaste. A unique and enjoyable take on this style of beer, which is a style that I don’t come across too often these days.
