Brought all the way back from NZ, thanks to my wife!
Appearance - Pours a warm honey/apricot colour with four fingers of billowy off-white head.
Smell - Citrus and tropical hops, tropical fruit notes (pineapple, mango), bready caramel malts, hint of citrus peel and pine.
Taste - Bitter citrus and tropical hops upfront, followed by the bready malts and a caramel/honey sweetness. There's a bit of a stone fruit flavour in here (apricot or peach), as well as a light touch of pine.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Bittersweet finish that lingers.
Ovreall - A unique IPA that uses the Rakau hop variety to its advantage. The tropical and stone fruit characteristics are a welcoming surprise to the palate. Well executed and very sessionable.
