Appearance - Pours a deep garnet/brick red with two fingers of bubbly, fluffy tan head.
Smell - Leafy and tropical hops, tropical fruit, grapefruit peel and flesh, toasty caramel malt, and red berries/currants.
Taste - Rich toasty caramel malt flavour, well balanced with the leafy/tropical hop bitterness and the surprise flavours of ruby red grapefruit and red berries.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Slightly sticky finish with enjoyable bitter aftertaste.
Overall - A well-balanced red IPA that introduces new flavours of red berries and ruby red grapefruit to the style. And sadly, my last Hop Federation bottle from my NZ trip.
