A 330ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2017. Given to me by my brother following a visit to NZ. Described on the label as an extra-pale ale with a fruity hop character.
A: Poured into a tulip. Bottle conditioned. An orange-amber colour with faint haze and moderate carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of pungent fruity hops with hints of citrus, orange peel, subtle tropical fruit, light pine, grassiness, sweet caramel, barley sugar and earthy yeast. Very nice.
T: Tastes of fruity hops with notes of citrus, peel, vague tropical fruit, subtle pine/weed, grassiness, sweet malt, caramel, barley sugar and earthy yeast. The malt seems to punch slightly below its weight. A robust bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with a yeasty quality and astringent hop oils. Somewhat insubstantial body that feels a tad watery. Aftertaste of bitter fruity hops, sweet malt and earthy yeast.
O: A rather nice brew. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are replete with aroma hops, sweet malt and yeast. Sub-par body; could be a shade thicker. That said it goes down a treat. Deserves to be sampled if you have the chance.
