Picked up a single from Drinks of the World.
Hmm, spelt, interesting, kind of. The aroma reminds me of cake (like the kind you make from a box), and frankly that's kind of cool. The flavor isn't really anything special and quickly disappears from your palate. What it does have is a mild caramel, with a hint of that cake. Overall this comes off like an average amber ale, but with a cool aroma. Worth a try if you come across it.

The head is soft, dense and regular. Thick and lasting. The body is of a slightly hazy orange copper color. The smell is malty and floury; aromas of dry cereals, spelt I guess. A hint of "cereal for animals" but very light, unlike other brews using spelt I've had. The taste is interesting: malty with caramel notes and a brown sugar character. It has a floury aspect reminding me of chestnut flour. Cereals become more and more noticeable, with light sweet and medicinal notes. A nice hop bite stimulates the palate, although it is quite moderate. Maybe it's more the carbonation that bites the palate. I liked that, anyway. The mouthfeel is quite convincing, hops add some character without becoming overly thick; overall the mouthfeel is smooth and enjoyably round, with a dry cereal finish. Nothing crazy, but a drinkable brew.

This is a Swiss beer made with Spelt (dinkel). It is a light amber color with a thick, cream colored head. Grassy hops with a hint of malt in backround but not very interesting. Light bodied brew that starts lightly sweet with a hint of toasted malts and maybe a bit of fruitiness like an alt. Interesting from the standpoint of the unusual grain being used. Not very distinctive though.
