473ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $4.50 CDN. Canned September 26, 2023.
Appearance - A ruddy caramel / gold colored brew with honey brown accents. Two plus fingers of foamy off-white head are poured on top. Very good staying power.
Smell - Grapefruit and orange mostly with some caramel malt backing things up. Soft peach is interspersed here and there too. Traditional west coast style with a few minor differences.
Taste - Lots of grapefruit and high bitterness. Malty backbone. More grapefruit. ABV is a bit perceptible. Reminds me quite a bit of Amsterdam's Boneshaker, just dialed up to 11.
Mouthfeel - Fairly full bodied and quite smooth likely due to the oats. Dry finish. Carbonation is middling and drinkability is moderate.
Overall - A solid DIPA that really focuses on the grapefruit and bitterness, which is a refreshing change from the very sweet and fruit forward brews that are commonplace today. Worth a shot if nothing for but a change from the usual daily fare of a DIPA.
