Coffee black with clear brown edges and a finger of khaki foam head settling to a thin ring leaving fine arms lace.
Quenching in its own way, a pleasantly light smoke of roasted cacao meets a touch of vanilla emulating a hint of s'mores but for a touch of herbal sassafras.
The soft medium body has a light fluffy carbonation that comes to a semi-dry finish.
Hits the spot after hiking to the top of a mesa and back, that's for sure.

Bomber into a shaker pint.
This porter is mostly cocoa, some vanilla, and maybe a bit of coffee. There isn't much flavor of roasted malts. The body is thin, thinner than usual for porters. The lack of any roasted character, together with the thinness, means this beer edges toward "90 pound weakling" territory.
There is that cocoa, of course, but in the end that wasn't enough for me to want to finish the bottle.
