33cl bottle. Pitch black pour, thick and viscous, with a modest tan head that gives way to a lacing that sticks to the sides of the glass. Peated whiskey smell, roasted malts, cocoa and dark chocolate. Peat in the taste - as I expected, the first aroma to hit the senses - followed by roasted malts, whiskey, a bit of barrel sourness and dark cherries. For this beer, the barrel ageing overwhelms the base beer a bit, but not excessively so.
