Pours a pale golden, straw coloration with a huge, fluffy lasting head and visible carbonation. Smells of doughy malt and grassy hops, with some white grape coming through as well. Taste is a good balance of doughy malt, grassy, slighty cxitrussy, herbal and spicy hops and fruity/spicy yeast esters, with notes of white grape, green apple, lime peel and hints of lemongrass, clove, white pepper and spruce. Finishes rather dry, with a light bitterness and some white grape and hints of spice and spruce lingering in the aftertaste. Sparkling, effervescent mouthfeel with a light/medium body and strong carbonation.
I always find a Bière Brut difficult to rate to style, as they are so hard to come by, but this certainly has got the style's signature dry character, sparkly carbonation and effervescent mouthfeel to it, while it also drinks rather easily for the relatively high ABV. A very dry brew with strong carbonation that is not too complex, but drinks rather easily and refreshing, which is all to style, I believe. While there is not that much depth to this, and I would have have really wished for the spruce tips to come through more distinctly here, it certainly has a very nice white grape character to it, which gives this a certain Prosecco feel that is enhanced by the fruity and spicy accents here.
