Really nice IPA from Grain Bin! Has definite New England IPA feel, but I find it's still very west coast. Great fruity f;avours. Citrus, tropical fruit, some dank resin qualities. Soft, yet oily mouthfeel. It's got the best of both worlds. Something I could drink all the time, if I lived closer to the brewery

650ml bottle - the latest in this brewery's customer poll winner offerings. Wow, if the suds quaffers of Grande Prairie want a NE IPA, then this fad might be real!
This beer pours a mostly clear, medium copper amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and well-bubbly ecru head, which leaves some decent layered jagged cloud pattern lace around the glass as it genially sinks away.
It smells of gritty and grainy caramel malt, muddled domestic citrus rind, a hint of earthy yeastiness, ethereal tropical fruity notes, and some understated leafy, weedy, and piney green hop bitters. The taste is bready and cereal-forward caramel malt, a (bad) touch of free-range roastiness, still hard to parse citrus peel essences, a subtle chalkiness, ephemeral yeast, and more tame earthy, piney, and musky floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite light on its frisky and frothy feet, the body an adequate middleweight, and generally smooth, with a minor aerosol creaminess there from the get-go. It finishes off-dry, the caramel malt, citrus, stoney character, and forest floor detritus all dancing a merry jig.
Overall, I was a bit put off by my initial impression here (it's not turbid!), but this one slowly grew on me. A nice, robust, flavourful, and very drinkable brew (especially considering the AWOL 7 points of alcohol), one that may not exactly be on par with Apex Predator for Alberta's best apery of the sub-style, but it's quite good in its own right.
