500ml bottle poured into tulip.
Pours a dark amber brown with two fingers of tan head that leaves some spiky fortifications of lace as it recedes.
Smells of caramel tarts, brown sugared raisins, stewed orange slices, dusted cinnamon, coffee grounds and some leafy green hops.
Tastes of caramel cinnamon cake, more candied raisins, marmalade on dark toast, creamy coffee, some faint black licorice and more weedy, sappy hops.
Feels thick and smooth. Full bodied with silky carbonation. Finishes chewy.
Verdict: Vigorously recommended. A nice hoppy barleywine for a cool night.
