Not a blonde ale to me but more of a session IPA. Most hops I've had in a Turkish beer by far and quite nice over all.

"Gara Guzu Blonde Ale"
5% ABV. Best before: 15.08.16.
33cl brown glass bottle purchased in Istanbul for 15 lira in May 2016.
Ostensibly the best Turkish beer - at least according to Ratebeer.
A: Pours a frothy white head of two fingers width. Recedes within 8 minutes, leaving uneven lacing on the sides of the glass.
Body is a clear golden copper of average vibrance. No yeast, lees, or sediment is visible within. For an unfiltered beer, it looks rather clean and clear.
Sm: Whoa - a beer with actual hop presence in Turkey? Bubblegum, floral notes. Pale malts. Carapils, methinks. Phenol aside, the yeast profile seems surprisingly clean for an ale; I detect no esters.
Aromatic intensity is average. Suggests a somewhat hop-prominent golden ale build.
T&Mf: The bubblegum is prominent, accentuated by the sticky coating gummy mouthfeel. I'm not sure why bubblegum is the strongest flavour here, but it isn't ineffective. Pale malts, some residual sugars, more bubblegum. Hop character is actually faint in strength and floral in character.
It's balanced, I guess, though its bubblegum emphasis is strange.
Smooth, wet, overcarbonated, unrefreshing. Medium-bodied. Could be softer. There's not an ideal harmony of texture and taste here, but it works.
O: Best beer in Turkey? Possibly, if only because the primary alternatives are Turk Tuborg, Efes, and Pera - none if which have impressed. I'm holding out hope Taps and Bosphorus Brewing will offer something superior, but it's doubtful. In any case, it's worth trying if you're craving a local offering that isn't swill lager, but personally I'd stick to locally available imports like Erdinger and Duvel if you're going to shell out 15 lira a bottle.
A mediocre golden ale by international standards.
