Appearance: Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a one finger beige head; leggy with a good splattering of dots and squiggles
Smell: Chocolate, vanilla and coffee tones with both Bourbon and Rum in the melange
Taste: Rich chocolate and vanilla forward with coffee emerging; through the middle, both the Bourbon and Rum barrels join the profile, after the swallow, but it is the Rum that makes the final statement; slightly boozy
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation; some warmth in the gullet
Overall: I appreciate a barrel-aged stout that blends in the treatment rather than overwhelming the flavors; in this case, you have both Bourbon and Rum adding contrasting but complementary elements
Thanks, elikan, for the opportunity
