At first, the aroma is a little intimidating: big, bold, very roasty, and boozy. As it settles, it mellows out into an even richness.
Flavor follows. It's right on the border between RIS and AIS, IMO: super roasty, but with a balancing sweetness. Bourbon profile is similarly sweet. Tasting notes of slightly charred toast, caramel, toffee, red grape, coffee, cream, molasses, oak, chocolate.

Pours mahogany with a sliver of mocha colored head. Zero head retention & lacing, viscous
S: Dark fruit, a hint of barrel, vanilla
T: Follows the nose, getting some serious Bourbon notes & oaky dryness up front, pretty dry. More oaky dryness, a little bit of charred grain, baker's chocolate & a touch of warm booze as this beer warms up. Finishes with some cola flavor, dark chocolate, barrel warmth
MF: Fairly chewy body with low carbonation, warming
Super solid BA Imp Stout, the heft & flavor profile makes this a slow sipper
