Sampling a lightly chilled 12 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. Date stamped 4/20/24.
The beer pours a black coffee color and no light passes through my glass. A creamy beige head foams up just under 1 cm. I get some dense lattice when I swirl the glass.
Aroma is rich roasted malt and dark chocolate, almost a little charred wood. I also get a faint bit of citrusy hop notes in the background. No hints of alcohol anywhere on the nose.
First sip reveals a light to medium body and very fine tingly carbonation. Texture is smooth and the beer drinks pretty easy.
Flavor follows the nose, I get a LOT of roasted malt and again, almost charred note. I get some citrusy hops, and a bit of grassiness too. Still no hint of alcohol.
This beer drinks pretty easy and has enjoyable flavors. The roasted notes carry the day strongly and I believe a little more hop character may improve the beer. But I do enjoy it and am glad to have tried this one!

Pours an effervescent & slightly ruddy chestnut/mahogany with 2 fingers of mocha colored head. Nice head retention & lacing
S: Roasty as Hell, some chocolate notes as well
T: Follows the nose, piney notes, some woody hops as well & dryness up front. Pine, roastyness, & dryness as this beer warms through. Finishes dry with roastyness, Baker's Chocolate & Pine
MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, good balance for the style
Super solid take on the style, drinkable, not a lot of brewers doing this around here
