12 oz can into a tulip - purs a mahogany brown with a solid cap of tanned head. Dark but spicy aroma here - gingerbread and molasses tag team. Tastewise, very nice! Pleasant warming spices that aren't overbearing at all. Add it on top of the doppel base and you have a good take on the winter warmers that are popular out here. A little south of full-bodied but dangerously easy to quaff. Cinnamon and ginger are the predominant spices I'm left with in the aftetaste. Like a molasses cookie tone to it as well. A bit raisin-y too.

I'm not sure how many of this brewer's products I've tried - I remember they started during the short time I was working in Westlake. I didn't think the sample was very good and I don't think I ever gave them another chance, until now. And this one is a pleasure to drink and a unique, tasty recipe.

It pours pale brown, nearly translucent and with fine head. The aroma is festive! The spices mingle nicely with the beer. It isn't a heavy base doppelbock, though it certainly is no slouch in the ABV department. You get an easy drinking holiday spiced beverage.

Highly recommended. It is a solid recipe they should make every year. It's a good value too. I will look into some of their other brews and try to get more of this.

Poured a clear amber with no head and no lacing. Great color, but kinda disappointing on the lack of foam.

Smells of raisin bread, allspice, malts. Cinnamon and ginger play second fiddle. Nice aroma.

Taste follows the nose. There's a generous amount of spice to this, but I can honestly say that - rather than a spice bomb - I'd call this bold. The malts provide the sweetness you'd expect for a doppelbock. It doesn't taste like an 8.4% ABV.

On the lower end of full bodied, but apropos for the style. Nice spicy kick.

Overall, a nice addition to the Christmas beer portfolio. I'd drink it again, but I won't go out of my way to track it down, either.

I got a 6pck of cans of this beer from my local meijer store. It poured a robust clear amber with no head and no lace. The scent had cinnamon and ginger notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with Christmas flavs galore. Ginger and cinnamon mos def present. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid xmas beer....if you're into this style.

From the can: Cheers to the holidays with this traditional German-style dopplebock brewed with a variety of favorite spices including cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg.

-Look: with an aggressive pour, it's a deep, dark iced-tea color with tan foam.
-Aroma: it's all Ginger Snap cookies and cinnamon toast.
-Taste: nice gingerbread, cinnamon, and delicious molasses!
-Feel: light carbonation with an iced-tea texture makes it disappear fast.
-Overall: very enjoyable, tasty treat - it's gingerbread in a glass! Try it!

Canned on 11/15/21. 12oz can poured into a tulip.

Pours a burnt golden with nice clarity; small light khaki head that fades leaving okay retention and lacing. Nice color.

The aromas are spice forward. Some raisin bread. Hints of caramel and cocoa. Malts are there.

The flavors basically follow the nose. More spices leading the way. Some cinnamon sticks along with some nutmeg. More raisin bread. There's a decent bitterness to this one. Lower sweetness. Malts do their thing. Alcohol is well hidden.

Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy, soft, smooth and slightly sharp.

This is a solid holiday beer. It's obviously not your traditional doppelbock. This also isn't my personal favorite holiday spice profile, but it still works. The spices are bold and aggressive while trying to remain somewhat balanced. This one is definitely fitting for the holiday season.
