16oz can
Pours two big fingers of pillowy white head into my Willi glass. Retention is pretty good, and half of the head remains after a few minutes. Initial lacing looks pretty good too. Body is golden, crystal clear, with a modest amount of bubbles coming up. Looks nice so far.
Nose has some tropical notes and a little bit of citrus rind. The tropical fruit brings a soft and sweet nature to the beer. Pretty one dimensional, but it smells good.
Flavor is largely the same - tropical, citrus rind, maybe the smallest dankness. Some spiciness comes out over time. Definitely has a pale ale level of flavor to it at first, but starts to flirt with IPA territory as it warms.
Carbonation is medium. Very light bodied, crisp, refreshing. It has a moderate bitterness that is definitely welcome. Well balanced, but leans towards the drier side. While I’m used to classic American Pale Ale’s having a little more body, I’m certainly not going to complain about a crispy boi coming across my plate. Nice mouthfeel.
Drinkability is wonderful.
Appearance turned out nice. Pretty thick lacing most of the way down.
Overall this is a nice pale - tasty, clean, totally fine. I think “totally fine” is really the best way to define most ideal pales. Pales are inherently meant to not blow your socks off. So, it’s pretty nice within the style spectrum, but still hard to rate above a 4.
