Pours pitch black. No red tinge, nothing. Smidgen of tan head that quickly disappears. Very flat. Spotty lacing. This is a black hole of a beer: it absorbs all light.
Smoky, chocolate nose. A hint of fruit. Alcohol.
Tastes of coffee. Plenty of bitterness. A hint of bourbon. Boozy. And suddenly a slurp reveals those juniper berries - Bombay Saphire gin.
Medium mouthfeel. Alcohol. Lines the mouth.
I've revised my original review upwards on sampling a second bottle. This is a very interesting imperial stout: the alcohol is to the fore; the chocolate nose is excellent; the label lists juniper berries but I couldn't find them (other than some fruit in the nose?) until suddenly, bang! there's a hint of gin; smooth mouthfeel with ragged edges from the alcohol.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
