This dry stout is brewed to balance citric west-coast hops with Chaga from the Maine woods. Antioxidant-rich Chaga contributes subtle vanilla and earthy spice to a complex roasted malt structure. Brewed in partnership with North Shore Mushrooms.

Love this. The smell says "hello I am a delicious stout" but hints at something more. First taste is surprisingly bitter. Delightful lingering mouth feel gives me plenty of time to observe different flavors: the calming malt, the subtle vanilla promised by the label copy, a touch of sour earth. Honestly, I don't know the names of most of the flavors, but they harmonize with the stout foundation and the west-coast hops to make something that tastes like a great stout took one step in an unexpected direction.

The beer is a dark brown color, with some red peeking through. Tiny tan head.
Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, and spice.
Chocolate, coffee taste. Vanilla. Very spicy. Earthy, piney hops late.
Medium-bodied.
Nice beer, a little too spicy for me, though.
