looks like they do a fair few different versions of this one, double dry hopped with this or that, in this instance el dorado, but its a strong voice for this hop, and it feels a little strained, good as this beer is overall, i think el dorado thrives in a more mellow context, where risks of greenness and bitterness are intentionally voided, here they creep in and degrade the best characteristics of this hop, although who knows what this would taste like a little closer to the source, idaho and maine are a long ways apart. i am surprised by the color of this, a little darker in color than many of these, still richly hazy and frothy headed and all, but light rust rather than straw colored. the nose is pretty fresh, with lemongrass and meyer lemon notes, i wait for the familiar cantaloupe suggestion from el dorado to hit, but it never really does, more stone fruit to me than melon in this context, and some lightly nutty grain behind it, a little grassy bitterness too for something that is mostly or entirely dry hopped. its definitely el dorado in the flavor, but i get citra characteristics too, and even a light noble element with some spiciness as it warms. i kind of like the fuller grain taste and feel, graham cracker and honey to it, and out of nowhere a vanilla note highlighting the el dorado in a cool way, its sweet for a flash in the center, but in a manner that enhances the overall depth of flavor. it is a little bit of a different side of this hop, more aggressive for sure in dose, but i like the way the base beer is built to handle it and encourage it, even if i do miss the more familiar features of this hop. a big of a longer finish, some green bite as well but its not enough to drag this down much for me, even at temperature. a fun beer overall, id love to try some of the other hop versions of this, sneaky strong, a touch raw but also really thoughtful and intentional stuff it seems. glad to have them in the market here.

Pours a thick deep gold with a frothy head. Smell is sweet, piney, and overall mouth-watering. Has an overwhelming sweetness, notes of orange, honey. Medium mouthfeel, slightly cloying with a malty aftertaste. Fairly unique on the tongue.

I got a can of this beer off the single shelf from my local beer store located just around the corner. It poured a hazy orangish with thin white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had stone and melon fruit with a hint of fruit peel spice. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with stone and melon zest presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Excellent. This does not take away from o-g Oh-J at all. It's been a couple years removed from having super fresh base at the brewery but this DDH is very reminiscent with a touch more tropical fruity sweetness (picking up so much pineapple). My only small gripe is that the beer is borderline syrupy.

16oz can poured into an IPA nonic.
A: Murky bright orange pour with a creamy white head.
S: Strong tropical fruit notes with a snappy, resiny nose. I get lots of fleshy mango and apricot/stone fruit, lemon as well. Sweet and also bitter-smelling.
T: Mango, melon, pear, lots of apricot and nectarine with a strong resiny finish and a sweet but grainy malt backbone.
MF: Thick, yeasty body that gets warm at times with a dry finish.
O: Strong and potent flavors and aromas on this one, I liked it as much as I could but I'm also not the hugest El Dorado fan, I'm finding out. This was solid though.

16 oz can into a tulip glass.
Pours an opaque golden color with 2 fingers of creamy white head. Great retention and a ton of lacing.
Aroma brings notes of candied peach rings, watermelon, apricot, maraschino cherries, and fresh pineapple. Different, but very pleasant.
The flavor has a surprising amount of blueberries, as well as watermelon, pineapple, apricot and peach candy. There's a bit of lemon in there on the finish.
The feel is medium bodied with lower carbonation. Relatively soft. Very smooth and creamy. Alcohol is well-hidden.
Overall, this is a great NEIPA. It has a lot of interesting flavors that bring a sweet and (very) subtly tart character to the beer. Nicely done.
